Mr. Katz received a BFA from S.U.N.Y. at Purchase with a major of Technical Direction for Theater Arts and Film. That is also where he began his career working in Theater and Live staged events as a carpenter for various scenery shops and later for various companies as a rigger and stagehand on corporate shows.
After graduation Mr. Katz worked for Central Park Summer stage as the Assistant Technical Director. It was from that experience which led Mr. Katz to become the Assistant Technical Director for New York City Opera at Lincoln Center. His responsibilities while at the New York City Opera allowed him to be involved in all facets of the Opera; Scenery, Lighting, Rigging, Sound, etc. His five years at Lincoln Center allowed Mr. Katz to experience over 75 full Opera sets. During that same five year period Mr. Katz was involved in the construction of 4 new operas per year for upcoming seasons. This allowed him to work closely with scenery fabrication shops to determine the best construction techniques and develop the contacts within the industry that he has nurtured over the years. Mr. Katz has traveled all over the world to ensure that scenery which various Opera companies rented from the New York City Opera was setup properly.
From there he moved to a large New York City union scene shop that recognized the experience and the connections that Mr. Katz had established within the industry and asked him to start a live events department in 1998. He started as a Project Manager for their live events (Broadway Shows, Off- Broadway Shows, Fashion Shows, Cruise ship shows and large televised staged events) and after three years they realized that his time would be better utilized soliciting clientele. They agreed and gave the position of Account Executive to Mr. Katz. Now with the ability to solely concentrate on sales and developing relationships, the worked blossomed.
During Mr. Katz's time as the head of Live events division it had substantially grown. After eight years Mr. Katz decided it was time to move on and go into business for himself, where he can dedicate himself to his clients.
Mr. Katz believes that his level of service that he provides his clients is what distinguishes him from his competition. No matter what time of the day or night or in which ever corner of the world, his clients know that he will be there for them if a problem arises. Most importantly, when he agrees on something they are confident they are going to get what has been agreed upon. This business is filled with extremely tight turnaround times and working with someone you trust is paramount.
